Just Hanging Out

I really think that Tion can sense the air of relaxation and laziness that has consumed Blake & I as vacation time has hit. He's been lounging even more than usual and just hanging out in general. :-) Blake has to be careful, though, when Tion hangs over his monitor. Last time Tion slipped and fell, clawing at the only thing available for support - Blake's face. He had something like a four inch slash down his face for several weeks. Now he treads lightly when Tion is lounging.

Boxes are a Cat's Best Friend

My aunt recently sent me a birthday present and engagement gift in this nice Fedex box. Of course, Tion & Dora just had to investigate. They found the little Styrofoams especially inviting.

Kitty Cats Get Serious

So Dora & Tion watched this old movie called Boyz in da Hood last week. I think Dora is really taking it to the next level, though. She's just about ready to challenge anybody. Tion just chills and acts as her backup.

I'm serious... these are two tough kitties you don't want to mess with.

Pumpkin Kitties

Tion and Dora were very interested when I brought home a selection of pumpkins. Next time, I might get a super-huge pumpkin and carve a tunnel through it so that the kitties can play. What do you think?

Kitty Cat on a Rampage

So this time, it was Dora who brings home a kitty cat friend who is a little rough around the edges. Her name is Grey and she has an unhealthy fascination with loaded weapons. Dora likes her, though, and I hope that this is just a phase she'll pass through quickly...

Tion and the Little Yellow Bird

Here lies Tion... lounging in his cat condo after a fun game of chasing the little yellow bird around. Of course, in his hunting frenzy, Tion manages to wrap the elastic that the bird hangs from around his body. He can't escape! Actually, it looks like Tion is just fine with his prey the way he is.

In fact, Tion found himself in this predicament because he was stealing the little yellow bird back from Dora. This little chewed-up yellow thing was the first toy I gave Dora when she first arrived at our apartment. The toy has since disappeared... probably under the bed or something. :-)

Another super-picture of Little Miss Dora and Mister Tion bonding.

Dora & Tion Cuddle

What can I say?

Dora & Tion

Here is a picture of Dora & Tion spooning on top of one of the desks. Tion finds Dora's cleaning techniques lacking, so he often takes opportunities to groom her himself.

Dora's taking over...

Here is Dora perched on the top of Tion's cat condo. Tion has been a very good sport as this little one has invaded his territory. She is also very fond of chasing his tail, which Tion puts up with very stoically for the most part.Tion has seemingly adopted Dora as his little sis. Here he is grooming her as she poses for the camera.

Fast Friends

After a week of hissing and biting, my two little ones are finally learning how to play nice.

Dora the Explorer

Well... it has finally happened! Tion Tillypants has a new playmate in the house. Her name is Dora the Explorer (like the Nick Jr. cartoon show) because of her insatiable appetite for exploration. Already, she has mapped out every nook and cranny of our apartment. So far, her favorite spot seems to be Tion's food bowl. :-)
I was able to snap a photo of one of the big chases that Tion and Dora partake in whenever possible. These encounters usually start with Dora posturing as if to overtake Tion, then quickly turn into Tion outrunning and often overrunning Dora. It's really only scary when he bites her neck. Already I can see that they will soon be comfy friends.

Rosie the Bag Lady

Meet Rosie. She and Tion had a falling out a while back, but she is none the less pretty cool. While her people parents were enjoying their honeymoon, I had the honor of visiting Rosie for regular play dates. One day, she managed to get a Starbucks bag around her body and it was a major adventure trying to get it off.

Lounging Around

After a long night of chasing bugs and invisible creatures, Tion lounges around in bed with his favorite house mate. Even though kitty cats often take many short naps, Tion always seems to be in bed when it's time for Mary to wake up...

I don't care what you say... this super cute kitty is smiling like she just found a whole basket of mice! Such a cutie!!!

Hanging Out with a Bad Crowd

So, lately I've noticed that Tion has been making friends with the "bad crowd" at the local park.

You know... the type of kitty cats that like to harass squirrels, drink a lot, and laugh at the nice cats.
I'm especially concerned about the scent of Wild Cat Malt Liquor that permeates from his fur. I have tried talking with him about his dangerous behavior, but he just refuses to listen!!!

I hope he realizes soon that these cats are
NO GOOD before he does something he really regrets...

(BTW... this is real malt liquor.
I am tempted to buy some just
because the bottle is so cool -
too bad it's sold in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.)

Spring Love

Yesterday Tion had a play date with his female friend, Gracie. I think he wants to be more than friends, but she is more than a little shy. By the end of the night, however, they were getting along pretty well (as long as I stayed out of the room) and playing with each others' tails. :)

Pictures to come...

Cat Crazy Scrunchy Party

Crazy Kitty Cat Party

So... my little rascal had a party last weekend while I was still on vacation in SLO. I wouldn't have known about it, except that when I got home I found even more scrunchies than usual on the floor and this incriminating picture on my computer. One of Tion's little friends much have been downloading pictures on my computer.

All I can say is that I hope they used protection!!! Dang, kitty cats and puppy dogs grow up pretty quickly these days! I guess it's time to have that talk with Tion before things get too out of hand... no wait, that not a problem since he's already altered.

Next time I go on vacation I am so getting a cat-sitter.

Tion meets a Sand Cat

Tion met a super-cute kitty at his party the other day. This cat's name was Sandy and she is a sand cat. I didn't really know how she was different than an everyday cat, so I looked it on google (of course) and here is what I found:

The Sand Cat is a very sly animal. This animal is unique because of its way of getting food. Where it lives and how it looks and acts is what makes it special.

This species is carnivorous. So the nocturnal cats hunt for food eating gerbils and rodents. Its excellent hearing can find the quietest scratching of small rodents from a far distance like a similar cat the house cat. They can live far from water sources by taking moisture from their prey .There are four species of these cats but the most studied and seen is the Sand cat.

Living in this part of the lands helps the Sand cats because of the ability of camouflage getting away from predators. But camouflage doesn't work all the time. The most current predators are not really predators at all they are people who are destroying the cats environment . The residents are telling the government about the disappearance of their chickens. The Sand Cats have been proved to be stealing chickens, North of Lake Chad but have not been proved anywhere else. The most common thing is getting ran over by moving vehicles.

Sand cats are poor climbers and jumpers, but are great diggers. The sand cat is the only cat in Arabia that digs its own burrow, in which it lives all year. A small amount of these cats live in the Sahara Desert and the deserts surrounding South Asia. In the environment which the sand cat lives in it is known as Felis Margrita, which is the scientific name.

Sand cats usually freeze when bothered by people and have a habit of closing their eyes against lights at night. The sand cat is a lighter yellow or gray-colored feline. Dark lines are on the legs and cover half of their tail. Their claws are dull and their prints are often visible in the tracks.Unlike most cats, the Sand cat has little furs on the pads of its feet. This is so that it can run in the sand without sinking into it. This cat only lives to be about 13 years old and the average weight is 6 to 8 pounds. The full length of the cat is 20 inches and the tail alone is 6 inches. Certainly you can see that the Sand Cat is a very sly mammal. This animal is important because we need to save the animals from extinction. People need to be more careful of their actions. If you one of these animals leave it alone so it can reproduce more.

Wrestling for Scrunchies

So...
my adorable kitty with an affinity for scrunchies decided to invite some friends over at the last minute for a game of Wrestle for the Scrunchy. Those kitty cats get fiesty when it comes to scrunchies!!! I'm telling you... that one cat, Sunshine, just took everyone down! (She's the one doing a masterlock on Tion right there. -->

I don't think I'm letting him have friends over again for like a year!!!

A Kitty Cat Story

Kitty in the Couch

Once upon a time, there lived a cute little kitten with a great love of schrunchies. Everyday, this kitten would play schrunchy war with his friend Mary. Mary would grab the scrunchy from this kitty named Tion and Tion would chase after the schrunchy with abandon. One day, however, something strange happened. Mary threw a bright, fuzzy schrunchy straight into the couch! Well, of course, Tion chased right after it...

Well, as we all know by now, Tion is not the smallest little kitty. In fact, he is a pretty strong, large cat that most people really wouldn't want to mess with. So imagine then that you are sitting right on the couch when this crazy kitty sprints right for you! Tion would just push you right out of the way! And that is what he did in this case too. There was a nice young girl named Meg sitting right on that couch where Tion was hunting his bright, fuzzy scrunchy. Well, lucky for Meg, Tion was looking for schrunchies and not girls. She was able to get away before Tion made his big move...

DANG!!! When Tion wants a schrunchy, he really wants a schrunchy! Pretty soon, Tion had all the couch cushions pulled out (and torn up) and low and behold - he had the bright, fuzzy schrunchy all to himself. Feeling very proud of himself, Tion took his schrunchy and retired to his kitty cat condo for an evening of schrunchy chewing and fur licking.

The End

Scrunchy Attacker

This first post is dedicated to my kitty cat, Tion, who is psychotically addicted to stealing and chasing hair bands, AKA "scrunchies", from all over my apartment. Tion is about 1 1/2 years old and totally cute. Even my boyfriend thinks he's badass. Here is my haiku dedicated to Tion:
